Recapturing Your Friendships After Years Apart
Sometimes people lose contact with really close friends for one reason or another. This person may have moved away, gotten married, gone off to the military, or his or her life could have just taken a dramatic turn. Whatever the reason for the lost contact, reconnecting should not be difficult if the friendship was true. Here are some ways one can recapture a friendship after years apart:
Make Contact: The first step to recapturing a friendship after years apart is to make contact with the person. It may be necessary to locate this individual first. If that is the case there are many resources online that can help find a friend in a short amount of time.
After the friend is found, simply dial their home number. If no one answers leave a message that states who is calling, why the contact is being made, and what number the they can call to respond. If the friend would like to connect then he or she will respond in a few days. If the phone call is answered then the opportunity for a creative opening phrase is available.
Talk: The next step in recapturing an old friendship is talking. The two of you need to spend time catching up and filling in the blanks. Tell each other stories about what has been going on in your lives. Have some laughs and see if you still have the same connection that you used to have. Most times you will.
Hang Out: By this stage you and your friend should be enjoying each other’s conversation enough to want to hang out. Make plans for a night on the town, a drink at your favorite old time bar, or a meal at a well known restaurant. The old friendship should be rekindled very quickly!Take a look here to learn more: Friendship
